Abstract

Alisher Navoiy’s tazkira, “Majolis un-nafois”, holds significant importance as the first comprehensive tazkira written in a Turkic language. This work provides information on 459 poets who lived and created in Khorasan and Transoxiana. The school of tazkira writing established by Navoiy was later continued in Ottoman Turkish literature. Alisher Navoiy’s influence is clearly reflected in Ottoman literature through Sehibey’s “Hasht Behisht” and Latifi’s “Tazkirat ush-shuaro va tabsirat un-nuzamo”. This article reveals the interpretation of Navoiy’s followers, the poets Sehibey and Latifi, as presented in their 16th-century Ottoman Turkish tazkiras.
