Abstract

Companies ‘Act, 2013 mandates at least one women director in every company. The intent was to increase participation of women in board rooms and even after 12 years of this mandate there are a few companies with women in leading roles, and in most of them, men far outnumber women and women are just holding nominal positions. This paper attempts to understand the present scenario of women participation in company management and the reasons for their failure to reach the top positions.
