Abstract

This article examines beverage-based phraseological units in English and Karakalpak from a comparative linguocultural perspective. The study focuses primarily on phraseological expressions containing the lexical components milk and coffee. These components are treated not only as names of beverages but also as culturally significant elements that encode social experience, values, traditions and patterns of conceptualization. The analysis demonstrates that beverage-based phraseological units reflect both universal human experience and culture-specific patterns of interpretation. The study concludes that semantic equivalence between English and Karakalpak phraseological units is often possible, while structural equivalence is considerably more limited.
