Abstract

This article examines the high inflation experienced in Turkey between 2021 and 2026 and its principal causes. It explores the effects of exchange rate depreciation, rising import and energy prices, and monetary policy on inflation. The article also considers the economic measures introduced to reduce inflation and their outcomes. The study applies descriptive statistical, trend, and comparative policy analysis to official consumer price index and monetary policy data for 2021–2026. The analysis indicates that inflation in Turkey resulted from the interaction of several economic factors and that the monetary tightening implemented after 2023 contributed to disinflation.
