Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technology has transformed political communication across the world and India is no exception. Social media platforms such as Facebook, formerly Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp have become influential tools in shaping public opinion and electoral outcomes. With India being one of the largest democracies and internet user bases globally, social media has emerged as a critical component of election campaigns. Political parties, candidates and supporters use these platforms to communicate directly with voters, disseminate information, promote political agendas and mobilize public support. Unlike traditional media, social media enables real-time interaction and allows political messages to reach millions of citizens instantly, making election campaigns more dynamic and participatory.
